About the painting:
This new abstract was based on an image I had in my mind: the beautiful cascading waterfalls of the Blue Ridge mountains. There is, of course, the waterfall itself with varying degrees of force and magnitude, but there are also numerous channels of water winding down through the rocks. Sometimes the water pools. Other times it rushes. Often it meanders. Mossy green rocks punctuate the scene with the woodland in the background. It is quiet yet at the same time full of noise: water rushes; the crickets and bird serenade. With that image in my mind, I painted this new piece called “The Cascades.” I wanted it to be full of movement and happiness.
